Our speaker this evening will be Dr. Kaira Waggoner from UNCG. Our speaker this evening will be Dr. Kaira Waggoner from UNCG. Kaira started a PhD at UNCG in honey bee health in 2011, and has been working with pollinators ever since. She graduated in 2015, completed 5 years as a post-doc at UNCG, and now works as a Research Scientist in UNCG’s Biology Department. During her doctoral studies at UNCG, Wagoner became curious about how bees communicate to perform hygienic behavior. She discovered that elevated levels of certain compounds on sick baby bees serve as a signal to adults. Read More …
